Candle and Melt Use Safety Instructions

*Please be advised that Wild Harvest Candle Company LLC is not responsible for any negligence and/or damages caused from not following these safety instructions while using our candles and melts.

• NEVER leave a burning candle or melts unattended.

• NEVER touch, pick up, or move a candle or melt warmer while lit or in use.

• NEVER burn candles for more than 4 hours at a time.

• ALWAYS burn within sight on a level, heat resistant surface.

• ALWAYS trim wick to 1/4" before each lighting.

• KEEP container candles lit for 3-4 hours on the first burn or at least until the wax pool reaches the edge (or very near the edge) of the container.

• ALWAYS keep away from flammable objects.

• ALWAYS keep away from children & pets.

• ALWAYS keep candles and melts free of any foreign objects including matches & wick trimmings.

• ALWAYS stop use of your candles when only 1/4" of wax remains. This is a safety issue and any candle maker or retailer will recommend this. Glass gets hot on the bottom as the wick nears the base. It can cause cracking, breaking, or damage underneath the glass.

Molded Candles:

*Always keep the wick trimmed to to 1/4 of an inch, each time you light your candle*
Beeswax molded candles are not recommended for use in a hurricane glass or other tall walled glass containers (unless they are votives, which are meant to burn in a votive glass - not free-standing). Beeswax has a high melting point and burns at a hotter temperature than other waxes; using a hurricane glass creates a convection effect by both disturbing the air flow around the candle (causing smoking wicks that burn too fast) and retaining extra heat inside the glass, causing dripping and eventually the candle walls to collapse. Always use a candle plate for these candles.

Initial burning should be approximately 1 hour per inch of candle diameter. (3" diameter candle = approx. 3 hours. for first burn)
Candles have a memory, so a shorter burn time will create a narrow wax pool decreasing the overall life of your candle.

For more typical cylindrical shaped pillar candles (this isn't required with shaped candles like the owl, roses, etc.) you must 'hug' your candle after the first initial burn. After you have extinguished the candle, while the wax is still warm, "hug" it gently by cupping the warm top in your hands and hugging it inward as evenly as possible. Use a "turn and hug" method. This helps the candle burn more efficiently by bringing the outer shell closer to the wick, which will melt into the wax pool during the next burn.

If the wick smokes or seems too large, simply extinguish the candle and trim the wick. Be careful of the hot wax while you trim the wick back to approximately 1/4" in length and relight it for the remainder of the burn time. Never leave a burning candle unattended, especially around children and pets.
